Scubapro Joins Coral Restoration Efforts in Partnership with Mote Marine Laboratory

Scubapro has taken a proactive role in coral reef restoration by collaborating with the scientifically grounded approach of Mote Marine Laboratory, aiming for optimal results in their joint efforts.

The project’s objective is to leverage Scubapro’s global reach through its extensive dealer network, all of whom are keenly aware of the importance of coral preservation and restoration. The goal is to mobilize divers on a global scale to participate in the protection and restoration of coral reefs and the underwater environments they hold dear. Mote Marine Laboratory, an independent, non-profit marine research organization founded in 1955, is dedicated to advancing marine science and education and supporting the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources.

This initiative is built on single-day programs where participants can learn about reef ecology and various techniques employed by Mote Marine Laboratory in their coral restoration efforts.

Helen Johnson-Leipold, President and CEO of Johnson Outdoors (Scubapro’s parent company), stated, “At Johnson Outdoors, we believe it is our responsibility to make the world a better place and accelerate our efforts in environmental protection. We are excited to partner with Mote Marine Laboratory to offer divers the opportunity to dive with us and contribute to coral reef restoration.” Dr. Michael Crosby, President and CEO of Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, added, “Coral reefs are the building blocks of the oceanic ecosystem, constituting 25 percent of marine life worldwide. We are excited to have found reliable partners in this program that will enhance the reach and effectiveness of our science-based initiatives.”
