If you ever need to quickly explore a large wreck or reef, the underwater scooter from iAqua will certainly be useful.
The AquaDart Pro 770 Xtreme DPV is made from carbon fiber and produced by iAqua Shenzhen, based in Guangdong. This underwater scooter is designed for recreational divers and is currently the fastest underwater scooter for divers worldwide. The maximum speed you can achieve with this scooter is 25 kilometers per hour, but you must be careful that this speed doesn’t knock the second stage out of your mouth, strip the mask from your face, or activate the air release from the spare second stage.
The motor of this underwater scooter delivers a maximum power of 5.2 kW (7 HP) and has seven gears. The controls are simple, consisting of two buttons and two switches. Its dimensions are 115 x 60 x 40 centimeters and it weighs 39 kilograms. Water is channeled through the bottom to drive an anti-cavitation propeller that provides 770 Newtons (71 kg) of thrust.
The maximum operating depth is 45 meters, classifying it as an underwater scooter for recreational divers. A good feature is that the scooter is programmed to shut off the motor when you exceed the maximum declared depth. You can also pre-program it to shut off at a shallower depth, ensuring that the user does not exceed the depth limit you set. The scooter has been tested well beyond the declared limits and includes multiple redundant and safety hardware and software systems, as well as an independent diagnostic computer that continuously monitors each system, even when it’s turned off.
The battery on the AquaDart Pro 770 Xtreme can last up to 140 minutes of diving, but if you “floor it,” it will provide a solid 60 minutes. Charging with the standard charger takes seven hours, but a fast charger is available, allowing you to charge the battery to 80% capacity in about two hours.
Naturally, such performance comes at a price, so to speed through the underwater world in your diving suit, you’ll need to shell out around 14,000 euros.
